SOUNDMINE

For five days, youngsters and adults with a passion for composing and creating push the limits of their own musical imagination. The whole week is focused towards a showcase where the creations or the work-in-progress are shown and executed. During SoundMine the participants get the chance to compose music in the most diverse styles. Special are the challenging encounters between acoustic instruments and technology, improvisation and notation.

SoundMine is an international composition summer school with intensive coaching by top-level composers and teachers.

SoundMine 2022 is organised by Musica, Impulscentrum voor Muziek in cooperation with HERMESensemble, JOWest, Centre Henri Pousseur and Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. Wim Henderickx and Diederik Glorieux lead this composition course. Composer and sound artist Jorrit Tamminga will once again immerse the composers in the world of electronic music.

In addition, composers writing for the electronic/acoustic repertoire also get the chance to participate in THE TIMES ACADEMY, a project of HERMESensemble and Centre Henri Pousseur. Thanks to a collaboration with the youth orchestra for strings JOWest with Dirk Lievens as conductor, several young composers will get the chance to experience rehearsals and performances of their own work.
