A spiritual journey to the limbus: the distance and time between two lights.

Inspired by the Buddhist Heart Sutra and the Bardo Thödol (also known in the West as the Tibetan Book of the Dead), Huang Ruo’s new vocal theatre piece takes us on a journey through the limbus: the distance and time between two lights. This experience, described in both writings as a solitude and emptiness occurs not only for the deceased, but also for the living. We all know the feelings of standing at the crossroads.

Singers of Nederlands Kamerkoor (Netherlands Chamber Choir) and soloists of HERMESensemble will accompany us on this spiritual journey, led by directors Aïda Gabriëls and Tido Visser.

Première in the context of All Arias Musictheatre Biennale 2023.
