An inspiring journey through the musical world of composer Wim Henderickx
Wim Henderickx’s Infinizio opens the door to a vast spectrum of instrumental and vocal possibilities, embodying his lifelong search for a contemporary sound universe. Diederik Glorieux, Henderickx’s longtime assistant, now brings fresh life to the work as part of his research project at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. By exploring graphic notation and improvisation, he ensures that the piece can be continuously rediscovered and reimagined.
Audiences are invited to experience three compact concert programs of around 40 minutes each, presented in and around the Church of Saint Salvator. Each program casts a different light on Infinizio. Pieter De Praetere and Thomas Langlois, renowned interpreters of early music, weave ancient melodies into new forms of polyphony that resonate within Henderickx’s work. Accordionist Vincent van Amsterdam offers a striking solo version of the Accordion Concerto, in a final arrangement by Diederik Glorieux. Meanwhile, HERMESensemble, the Kortrijk City Choir, Ars Vocalis, and the vocal ensemble Huniyagar engage Infinizio in dialogue with new compositions by Glorieux, where freedom and improvisation take center stage.
